Can You Hear Me Now?

Telecommunication company, Sprint, presents some interesting findings in their recent study “Women in a Wireless World”. For instance, the study shows that 61% of women use their cell phone to find things in the dark, but only 1% use it to shine on their face while telling a ghost story. Personalizing the phone is apparently important with 81% of women surveyed saying they use ring tones to personalize. Only 75% of men do. Flip phones are the style preferred by 72% of the women, versus only 20% for standard non-flip phones and a mere 4% for a slider. And 70% use their phone to send text messages to family members. The Sprint findings also show that 89%t of female wireless-phone subscribers say their wireless phone is a time-saver and more than 50% make at least half of their calls from their wireless phone. Alana Muller, director of marketing for Sprint says, “Today’s on-the-go women demand services that help them juggle life’s demands, stay in touch with their families and express themselves.”

No way. This survey just shows how out of touch Sprint is. They didn't even mention how many women use their phones for business.

Once again it shows how some big businesses are missing the entire point of asking women their point of view.

Ghost stories? How cliche is that!!! Not one mention of using them for business (which I strictly do), as a long distance provider or other useful tool.

This makes me glad I use Verizon!

It's sad to say...but I must use my phone as flashlight at least once a week!

The woman on the go? They have got to be kidding me! I have not heard that expression since the early 80's!

With the amount of money cell phone companies seem to be pouring out for advertising, you would think one person in the company would have stopped and said "Hey, I know they are paying us lots of money but isn't this survey kind of degrading?"

Sorry guys, you totally missed the mark on this one. Maybe the question you should be asking is, "How can we help our female customers?" Not "How can we make them feel more belittled?"

Sprint forgot to mention that a cell phone is great when the power goes out and you need to call the power company!

You can use it to call the company and then as a light to find the fuse box!

True story: A friend of mine used her old cell phone (think late 80's big blocky thing) as an art piece. She paper mached it and call the piece "More useless things I'll never use". She sold the art piece for more than she paid for the phone!!!! Now that is a question they could have asked, "Have you ever used your cell phone to make art?"
